Azealia Banks Quits Rapping; Releases ‘Aquababe’ Artwork.
What is this? Out of nowhere came the slap in the face of news that Azealia Banks decided to quit rapping. Banks, who was quite the frequent user of Twitter, deleted her account on June 8; an account that Banks used as an outlet to connect with fans but more notably to let her salty thoughts loose.
Banks’ explanation on quitting rapping and Twitter, released via her Tumblr, stated:
Follow us on Twitter & Like us on Facebook
i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullshit urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the “rap game”… or whatever the fuck that means… no more twitter for me… it makes me entirely too accessible. Catch me on tumblr… it’ll be more interesting. [SOURCE]
Are you sad, well do not be as Azealia Banks followed up with this statement:
i just don’t want the label and all the other crap that comes with the “rap game”… it’s boring. rather be a dance artist.. lol. [SOURCE]
Leading up to this schizophrenic behaviour, Banks was praised for her Coachella performance a few months back, released “Jumanji” from for forthcoming ‘Fantasea’ mixtape, released her ’1991′ EP, performed at Summer Jam, hosted her Mermaid Ball, and just announced the release date (June 13) for “Aquababe” (second single from ‘Fantasea’).
Fellow Harlemite A$AP Rocky shared his feelings on how Banks should stop the beefs… Also, came the end of a short lived business relationship with manager Troy Carter (Lady GaGa) which was announced on June 7. This was a sign but at the same time it is a massive question mark, a “HUH” if you will.
Azealia Banks’ talent is quite mature but she must be stuck in her “Seventeen” phase. Not to say just sit there and never speak up for yourself but the unprovoked negativity and overly defensive remarks to everything that comes her way just makes you want to shout “shut the f*#k up and stop minding everything.”
It seems as though Banks likes matters to go her way but what she was never taught was that sometimes “kissing ass before kicking ass” is a must. We want to see the young lady do well but this “rude bitch” attitude of hers is going to get her career stomped to a pulp. There’s a lot more to be said but we just need to sit back and watch and see how she grows or continues on this messy path.
