Beauty Basics: The Secret To Great Makeup..

Oct 25, 2010 4 Comments by

The secret to the timeless looks like those of Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston is not “Photoshop” or retouched looks but it is healthy skin! We grow up mimicking what we’ve learned from our mother’s morning routine: put on a little face powder, a little eyeliner, some lipstick and you’re good to go: Right? Ladies, we were so wrong with this concept. There is a process that should be done before any makeup really touches your face.

The fact is, in order for your makeup to be the best that it can be, there is a simple daily routine that must be developed for this to be accomplished. We have narrowed down the three most common and essential components of a daily regimen for all skin types.

Step#1: Cleanse

This initial step allows you to get rid of the dirt and oil from the skin. According to beauty experts, regular bath soap is actually not supposed to touch your face for the cleansing process. This is because soap can cause irritation and tautness of the skin (when your face feels tight like you can’t even open your mouth). Investing in a natural cleanser for your skin type is a must. This does not mean that you have to spend a fortune, it just means that your skin will be eventually be “great” due to your use of this type of product.

Step#2: Exfoliate

This process removes the dead skin from your face, leaving that fresh young look that every woman loves to maintain. This can be done safely at home, using a brand that you prefer. We recommend exfoliating products that contain salicylic acid, fruit enzymes or glycolic acid as these help to cleanse and also fight against acne and dry skin. While this method is affordable, others may choose to see their local or personal dermatologist for more intense procedures and also personalized acne fighting treatments.

Step#3A: Moisturize

No matter what skin type you may have, you must nourish your skin with a good moisturizer. Ladies, this is a must for radiant and glowing skin. These are best for hydrating your skin and contrary popular belief; persons with oily skin are not excluded from this group. So, for best results, this should be applied to slightly damp skin and after you have exfoliated the skin to lock in the moisture needed for the day.

Step#3 B: Apply Sunscreen

A lot of us assume that if you are not on vacation or if you are not on the beach, you do not need sunscreen. This is another misconception that persons actually believe. Truth is, we are all exposed to the sun on a daily basis. Once you step outside your home, you are exposed to the sun and its deadly UV Rays which also brings up the almost deadly subject of wrinkles. Yes ladies, overexposure to the sun increases your risk for developing wrinkles, dark spots and rough skin no matter your race or skin color.

We recommend that you use a moisturizer that has sunscreen with SPF50 for best results. This way, you will save you money and also get the results you desire.

Great advice! Not much people are aware that how they treat their skin, affects the way their make up looks. Most people want to “cover up” the problem but aren’t willing to “fix” the problem.
