Carly Rae Jepsen: One Hit Wonder, Maybe, Maybe Not?

If you haven’t heard the a little song by the name of “Call Me Maybe” as yet, then chances are you just do not listen to the radio or Top 40 music. The singer behind the magical and über catchy radio smash is Canada-native Carly Rae Jepsen.

“Call Me Maybe” has been out for many months now but it has finally seen the top. The single is sitting nicely at number one on The Bilboard Hot 100. The song has become so popular where it’s reached a point of the song being bigger than the artist. Yes, many know the song but do many know who Carly Rae Jepsen is?

This is a common case with newer artists with breakout singles. Not to compare her to Britney Spears but everyone knew “Baby (One More Time)” before they were able to say Britney Spears and know who it was. The question at hand, is this the beginning of Carly Rae Jepsen or is “Call Me Maybe” the pinncale, already?

It’s very hard to predict in this “flavor of the week” music industry. Jepsen, unlike her peers, does not have a gimmick; the focus is not on her image. When she is photographed or hits the stage she is not dressed in some ridiculously expensive garment. She just performs the song that has skyrocketed…

We won’t be able to tell where she ends up but Carly Rae Jepsen has collaborated with Owl City for “Good Time” and it is traveling up the charts fast!

 It sounds like Jepsen has another hit on her hands!
