“I Don’t Have Any Secrets I Need Kept Anymore.” – Frank Ocean Is Out Of The Closet!!
The time has finally come, we finally have an openly gay/bi-sexual man in the industry. What ya gonna do about that?!
The fact is, Frank Ocean is a beat beast, what he does with a pen is unreal, but now that he has revealed the true nature of his sexuality, will that effect the way he’s now treated?
Rumours have been swirling for the past few days questioning the sexuality of the ‘Swim Good’ singer based on a few tracks on his upcoming album, but now he has put all the rumors to bed penning an open thank you letter which he posted to his Tumblr.
In the raw letter written since late December of last year, Frank details the nature of his relationship with a male friend, spending countless days and hours together, eventually falling in love.
“4 summer ago. I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spend that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together. Time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him. and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence. Until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love.”
It takes strength, courage, faith and maybe lots of alcohol for a black man in the hip-hop industry to put your career and life on the line to come out of the closet.
It’s clear Frank has been battling with this decision for some time, and for him this is quite a load off of his back. Kudos to you Frank.
Will I continue to listen to his music, most definitely. Everyone has to live life the way they see fit. Who are we to judge. I read a quote the other day that many people might just need to see. It stated,
“Do not judge others just because they sin different than you.”
