For those who are not familiar with For Better Or Worse..Can you give us a bit of an insight of what the show is about?
The first season which came out in November it was more of a dramedy. I think Tyler [Perry] was trying to do something a little different and show a different dimension of the relationship between Angela and Marcus but now it’s more of a comedy. We have laugh tracks and you see more of the dynamic that you saw and experienced in Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married 2. It’s more of a comedy driven. You’re going to have a good time. Tyler fell in love with these characters and he felt he wanted to do a spin off to bring them to television so people can experience their relationship and circumstances to you every week. These 35 episodes are so much more fun than the drama that was going on in the first 10.
What can we expect from Angela this season?
Angela is a lot more funny and not so much drama going on but there are dramatic circumstances and situations in a comedic format. She isn’t burning down no cars but chicks are being put in check. I’ll put it to you like that. You’re also going to see Angela wanting to have another child. You’re going to see her trying to change and handling situations in a different way. Trying to get redemption for what she did last season which was burn up the car and the clothes. You know? Trying to get forgiveness from Marcus and also she’s more of the person that’s trying to help her friends out and help them through the circumstances they are going through in their relationships because she’s not going through the drama right now.
What’s the most fun about playing a woman like Angela?
Honestly, I live vicariously through her because she speaks her mind, she says how she feels. She’s honest, emotional, passionate and she’s crazy. She goes from one extreme to the next. It’s fun playing a character with so many dimensions in her personality. She goes from one extreme to the next. Like in this season, she really reminds me of Lucy because she’s always getting in trouble and always trying to clean up the mess that she’s created and she’s a lot more comedic and physical with the humor.
Bobbi Kristina joined the cast this season. Did you have the opportunity to film any scenes with her?
Yes, I did. I got a chance to work a lot with her and I gotta tell you, people are going to be so excited to see her on television and she’s so funny. Tyler was really smart for creating this role for her and she did a fantastic job and I’m looking forward to people seeing it.
We’re so excited for Bobbi Kristina.
She’s so funny and she has a little smart mouth and I love it.
You’re married both on the show and in real life. So what advice would you give to someone who felt they got married to soon?
I’ll just speak on someone who is married period. The show is called For Better Or Worse so you have to understand that in a marriage that there will be times when it’s better and when it’s worse but you’re going to have to stay committed within your desire in the marriage. You can’t be quick to quit. You gotta be quick to forgive and you gotta be quick to reconnect because you’re one and two can’t walk together unless they agree and touch upon the same thing. Even if you disagree you have to still come to a place of agreeing to disagree. You gotta keep the communication. You can’t be disconnected and allow a breach to happen in your relationship. You gotta remember it’s “for better or worse” so stay focused, stay committed and stay in faith. You have to be a team player in order to reach the goal of winning.
You’ve expanded your brand with your husband Keith Douglas by launching a fragrance.
Yes! We have our fragrance called US. It’s a fantastic fragrance that is unisex. It’s organic oil and something that we came up with because we both love fragrances and I could never find one that I loved and I wanted to wear all the time so my husband said lets come up with our own. We found a chemist and we went through a bunch of different smells and this is the first one we came up with. We have several more coming out as well as body washes and lotions and body butters but I’m very excited about our US fragrance and body care line. People can purchase our fragrance on JustTasha.com and it’s in several stores. Remember, it’s affordable, organic and smells divine. It never loses it’s smell. It’s so sexy and it’s an afrodisiac both men and women love it.
What else can we expect from Tasha Smith?
I’m also working on a hairline and we have our Speakers Bureau Institute also called SBI, a company that my husband and I started because we love to empower people to pursue their purpose in life and there are a lot of artists and entertainers and musicians that have wonderful testimonies and messages and they just need a platform to go out and share with their audience and fan base their story of empowerment, growth, and perseverance. We started SBI less than a year ago and it’s doing fantastic and I’m excited about that. I’m excited about art and business. We travel all over doing speaking engagements as well as sending other people out as do it as well.
You are an extremely busy woman.
Well, I also have my TSaw bootcamp coming back in October/November and we’re gonna be in Atlanta and New York and people can get more information by going on TSaw.com.
And last, what makes Tasha Smith major?
Tasha: I’ll put it to you like this…I think that I don’t use celebrity to be famous but I use celebrity to inspire and empower people and I think that’s the best thing I got working for me is my love for people and my desire to empower them and encourage them to pursue their purpose in life. We have to look at our opportunity and our audience and our platform to be able to do something for someone else. Be willing to be a bridge to help someone get to their destiny and purpose.
