MAJOR Review: Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta – The Good, The Bad, The Ugly..

The new season of Vh1′s popular reality show ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ returned to our television sets.  I can’t say that I wasn’t entertained, but I must say I was equally disgusted by the first episode now set in the city of Atlanta.

The new season shifted away from the cast of Emily B, Chrissy, Olivia, Somaya, Jim Jones, Mama Jones, now to be replaced with K.Michelle, Mimi, Joseline, Karlie, Erica, Mama Dee & Scrappy and the other supporting cast members….First and foremost, I must say, I don’t think I’ve ever been more ashamed of ‘my people’…

We have all sold our soul to the devil known as reality t.v.  The parsimonious nature of the current production model has made it king of the hill, but when will it end?

Tonight’s episode of the Mona-Scott Young executive produced show was disturbing and a clear indication of everything that is wrong with television. If you thought Basketball Wives was bad, this show is just plain evil..

As we know, all reality shows are somewhat scripted and without a doubt I’m 200% sure this had a script, blocking, call time, rehearsals and playbacks!!!! I would have much rather this had been a bad television series than these women’s actual reality!

Mimi, oh, I feel for you. We have the classic case of a woman that is disrespected on so many levels by her ‘man’ but refuses to walk away from that man that clearly has no respect for her. Stevie J clearly flaunts his side-chick/artist Joseline [the Rihanna look-a-like; i'm not here for the transgendered questions] in Mimi’s face…but for Joseline to be so bold with it? Have you no shame?

I honestly wanted to reach through the screen and whop his ass for her!

If this isn’t scripted, this can’t be life. Let’s get this straight…a man puts you in a million dollar house, takes care of you..but it’s ok for him to disrespect you? This season is set to be an interesting one as Joseline looks to have gotten knocked up…

Is this what life in Atlanta really is like?

K.Michelle might be the only female on this show that has some credentials…The singer discusses her past abusive relationship and this is probably the only shining light of the first episode….the fact that women who may be going through a similar reality can find some hope in knowing, they too can make it out alive….Kudos to you Michelle, we’re rooting for you…

The only other sticking point for me was Scrappy’s mother Mama Dee, who in.that.order, is a 2.0 Mama Jones…there are no words to describe her…please watch and get back to me with your evaluation…Dear Diamond, bless your heart….and your limbs when Mama Dee finds you…

Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta is a Love & Hip-Hop on crack…I know people have to eat and are trying to resuscitate their dying careers but at the cost of the entire black race?…[too extreme?].  I’m sick and tired of black people getting on the television and making a royal nuisance out of themselves for a few coins.

Where are the shows that display black women in positions of power rather than in positions of backstabbing, back biting, getting knocked up, chasing rappers, former crack heads, on welfare, side-chicks roles? Do we have nothing else to offer?

Where are the corporate women, women that make it happen, women that break their backs to keep their daughters off the pole and off their backs at?  The Oprahs, the Michelles, the Beyonces, the Simmons, where they at?!

I think it’s time we take our race back!
