Michelle Obama’s Face Superimposed On Famous Slave By Spanish Magazine..

Should we take offense?

Fuera de Serie magazine depicts Michelle Obama as a slave for their August 12th cover.

The First Lady’s face is superimposed on the body of a 19th Century French slave from an 1800 portrait titled “Portrait d’une négresse” by a French artist by the name of Marie-Guillemine Benoist.

In the issue, Michelle is labeled as ”gran mujer” meaning a great woman, while her head is photoshopped onto a French slave wearing a wide headwrap and a white gown with one boob exposed.

“The painting was finished six years after that nation’s abolition of slavery and has been regarded by art historians as a commentary on both sexism and racism during the time. Some experts see the image a as tribute to emancipation and the beginning of a feminist movement in France.”

While many are offended by the painting, artist Percheron-Daniels thinks everyone should embrace it.

“I’m sure Obama would love it, and I hope that someday she can see it.”

We’re sure by now the Obama’s have seen the painting but is this something that will be hung up in the White House? Can’t see that happening.
