After a seven year hiatus, the veteran in the female hip-hop arena, Miss, “Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott”, is back on the rap scene.
Elliott reunited with her partner in crime, music producer and fellow rapper, Timbaland, after nine years, on Thursday [April 6th] at the New York Club Hennessy. The pair performed the single, “Triple Threat”, which is from Tim’s 2012 album, Shock Value III.
Mikey Fresh of MissInfo.TV was ecstatic to see the return of the duo, especially Missy.
“It finally happened. Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott hit the stage on Thursday night in New York City. After a ton of rumors about her coming out with Timbaland at VIBE’s SxSW show, which never happened, Missy killed it for Hennessy’s #WildRabbit party. Timbaland brought out his old time partner in crime to perform their new collabo. It was the same unknown song (“Triple Threat”), the VA producer debuted in Austin. I thought it sounded great live, and it even paid homage to Pimp C.”
Between her daily struggles in the music industry and her autoimmune disorder, Graves Disease, the 40-year old rap superstar still manages to find time to produce new music for her fans. Elliott’s summer 2012 debut, “Block Party”, will be her seventh studio album. She is the only female rapper to have all six of her albums certified platinum, including one double platinum plaque.
For all of the Missy Elliott fans out there, I’m sure I speak for us all when I say that we’re happy to have Miss back on the scene. We’re tired of the unnecessary feud between Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim and we’re craving new and returning female MC’s who are serious about their talent.
From the looks of the video, Missy is definitely enjoying herself and glad to be back on the stage, especially alongside her brother Tim.
