Spotlight: Fashion Leggings & Catsuits By Angel Brinks

Leggings are so easy and comfortable to wear that they have become one of the hottest fashion trends but why go with basic black when you can glam up your look with a custom made pair by Angel Brinks.

Not only does this designer make major leggings but she’s also known for her signature catsuits, that fit a women’s body like a glove.

Get to know the mastermind behind these fierce creations in our spotlight feature of the week.

Vanessa: Your leggings and cat suits are so sexy and they embrace a woman’s body…What made you want to launch a clothing line?

Angel Brinks: Thank you so much!! Yes! They definitely embrace women’s bodies.  Ever since I was a little girl, I used to pretend to sell clothes. I used to draw barcodes and tape them on my clothes. I saved my allowance and bought a cash register, and used monopoly cash to pretend I was selling clothes. I used to tell my imaginary customers, “Thank you! Have a nice day!” and hand them a bag with my clothes! I was nominated in High School for “Best Dressed”. I worked in retail the minute I was able to have a job.  I also have been in the Entertainment business for a long time. Being on sets of videos, dance teams, competitions, etc I learned a lot about women’s bodies and what material looks good. I started to buy material and take it to seamstresses to make clothing fit on me. Everywhere I went, girls would approach me and ask where I got my outfits from. They would write me on Facebook. They would call me. It got out of control. Leggings and Bodysuits shortly after that became a fad! Nicki Minaj was wearing them everywhere, Jennifer Lopez in videos wearing them, Rihanna doing concerts in them…you couldn’t find them anywhere for sale. I didn’t want anything basic. I wanted fashionable ones. So I started to make my own and again, everywhere I went, everyone asked. So I decided to launch a line selling fashionable leggings beyond the basic.

Vanessa: I know Trina was recently seen in your line…Who else can be seen wearing Angel Brinks?

A.B.: Oh yes, having Trina wear my line, was such an honor. Her body is so beautiful, and everyone knows it. So for her to wear my line, was just fabulous. Canadian Pop Star Kreesha Turner shot her video “I Could Stay” wearing a bodysuit. She is now on tour, I designed some for her tour. She is also doing interviews now that I seen, wearing some. Kreesha has graced almost every fashion cover magazine in Canada. Having her as a client has also been a blessing. Destiny, who is signed to Interscope/Diddy’s music group called “ISquare” has performed shows wearing my line. Model Rosa Acosta and Shakur Sozahdah, is filming a movie right now where they both wore my line in the movie. They also have worn them in photo shoots. Model Tammy Torres, has hosted parties in my line, as well as Awards ceremonies and different events. Erica Mena who was on “Kourtney & Khloe Take on Miami” has done photo shoots in my line as well as wear my line on the TV show airing now “Love & Hip Hop” along with Maria Millions wearing my line too. A few other reality TV stars, models, and a lot more in the works that you will have to wait and see!!

Vanessa: What do you want women to feel when rocking your designs?

A.B.: I want them to feel just as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside! I try to make designs for all shapes, heights, and sizes. For example, stripes. They can make you appear taller, and/or skinnier if made the proper way. Some designs are made for those who want to look skinnier, and some are made for those who want to look a bit more “thick”.  Some of my designs are made to accent the stomach, the chest, and some such as the High Waisted Collection are designed to slim down love handles and give the hour glass shape. I think women are so beautiful in every shape and size, and I want them to FEEL that way in my designs.

Vanessa: What’s the price range for your collection?

A.B.: Prices range from $69 up to $500. Everything is hand made right here in America. Not from China with huge factory machines. What’s great about my line is THIS: Every customer has the opportunity to request their exact size when ordering. Sometimes we fit in a size small, and sometimes strangely we fit in a medium. Its weird, right? So every customer has the chance to send in their measurements and we make it to fit. Sometimes my customers will say, “Angel help! I’m very busty on top (F cup) but I’m a small bottom!” or vice versa. So we’ll make it custom, at no additional charge and also offer lifetime alterations! If for whatever reason the outfit doesn’t fit, we’ll continue to alter it until it does, even if it takes 10 times. Usually customers will receive their item(s) in 7 days or less after ordering.

Vanessa: Where can the Angel Brinks creations be purchased?

A.B.: Right now on www.AngelBrinks.com. There’s a store in Sugar Land, Texas (next to Houston) called “Stilen Butikk”. They just started carrying my line on November 11, 2011. There are other stores in the works as we speak who are waiting for their shipment in Miami, Atlanta, Utah, and Minneapolis.

Vanessa: What’s next for your brand?

A.B.: I have so many ideas right now, its insane! As any designer progresses, I’d like to as well. A baby/children’s line, professional dancers (perhaps making designs for “Dancing with the Stars”), maybe even a men’s line, or athletic/gym leggings, maybe even perfume. Whatever happens along the way, I’m ready for the ride.

Vanessa: What makes Angel Brinks MAJOR?

A.B.: That’s a tough question because I’d like to think I’m just like everybody else. I have always been a hard worker, goal achiever, dream chaser. I go after everything I want and don’t stop till I succeed. I go above and beyond, I’m very hands on, I have a positive attitude about life, and strive to be the best I can be. I wear many hats. I am heavy into Real Estate, I have owned businesses, I am a mother of a 4 year old, I love to cook! I have worked with kids, with the law, I have worked in retail, and in the TV/Entertainment business. I am well rounded in every way. I have now found my nitch. I am confident, even on my worst days, and I hope I can inspire all women around the world to be the same! Xo.
