Spotlight: Tasha Hussey Designs

Have you ever heard of eco-friendly jewelry? I want you to become familiar with Tasha Hussey Designs who is currently based in Atlanta. Her collection recycles vintage, never before seen jewelry and creates new pieces out of them. We love the fact that this designer pays regards to the well being of the environment.

Vanessa: What made you want to launch a jewelry line?

Tasha: I started the jewelry line in February 2009. I have always wanted to do a jewelry line but just never got around to it as my clothing line and working in film kept me so busy. Well, I guess nothing before it’s time. With the down turn in our economy, I wanted to offer a lower price point product as I felt people wanted to still be able buy something to update their wardrobe but maybe could not spring for the cost of a full outfit.

Vanessa: What inspired the theme behind the line?

Tasha: I am a recycle, re-use type of person and also a vegetarian so even though the
jewelry is contemporary, I am using vintage pieces with new findings to create something new. So the line is eco-friendly.

Vanessa: What is the price range?

Tasha: The price range is $25 to $150.

Vanessa: Where can your jewelry be purchased?

Tasha: My line can be found here in Atlanta at Estella Home in historic downtown Roswell owned by my friend Tameka Raymond. Also, online at www.tashahusseydesigns.com and at Charm Boutique in downtown St Louis.

Vanessa: What’s next for your brand?

Tasha: Right now, we are expanding to Boutiques in various states. The jewelry was also featured in this current season of House of Payne on TBS. So, we are trying to do more projects like that as it is great product placement.
