The late Whitney Houston was paid tribute to at The 2012 BET Awards. BET gave the utmost respect the timeless one, bringing out Mariah Carey to speak of her relationship with Houston and how beautiful Houston’s spirit was.
Bring on the singing as Monica kept it quite formal with her stunning cover of “I Love The Lord”; Monica took us to church at 11 o’clock at night. Brandy channeled the uptempo Houston with a lively performance of “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” The audience danced and celebrated for Ms. Houston’s life.
The family also took part to pay tribute to their loved one. Gary Houston sang another farewell to his darling sister. Bring on the emotion because right after, Cissy Houston sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” What a feat that is for a mother to sing for a child that passed away. Even if Cissy’s singing did not move you to tears, you sort of wanted to force yourself to them.
Houston’s ‘Waiting To Exhale’ fellow cast members came out to say a few words about time on the set of the movie. A newly slim Chaka Khan closed the tribute singing “I’m Every Woman.” We must say BET did a very decent job on remembering Whitney Elizabeth Houston.
