“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.”
Hellllo 2017!
New year, new travel aspirations. This year I’m so excited to continue traveling the world and share my journey; while traveling may be deemed a luxury by many, from my vantage point, it’s a necessity. Traveling and exploring new countries will teach you more than any college or university ever could, and I’m here to inspire and motivate you to do the same.
I’m still in awe at how amazing 2016 was to me, but I can’t dwell on the past. I’m trying to out do last year. 🙂 I’m putting my travel goals into the atmosphere yet again, and I can’t wait to see what the new year brings. I’m an ambitious gal, and my travel bucket-list is as well.
Here’s how my 2017/2018 is looking! *crosses fingers and releases dreams into the universe*
Morocco – I just want to spend all of my dirhams at the souks buying as many leather sandals, caftans and spices as possible. If I am able to visit only one country in 2017, I would gladly choose the Kingdom of Morocco. I remember one day watching a travel show featuring Brooke Burke in Casablanca and thought to myself, ‘I’m going to go there.” This enchanting North African city captured my eye with its stunning architecture and its vivid and bold colors and rich history.
Grenada – Thanks Kered, you’ve convinced me to visit the land of spice! This year, I’m looking to expand my Caribbean adventures with a stop to the ‘Spice of The Caribbean”, the tri-islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. With the exception of The Bahamas and Antigua, the Caribbean is a foreign land to me. There is so much to see, explore and do in Grenada and I’m here for it. My wish-list includes a visit to the Victoria Waterfalls, a stop at a Sulphur Springs for an impromptu mud bath, and a ATV ride through the rainforest.

Iceland – There are few things in life more spectacular and magical than the Aurora Borealis, the lights of the northern hemisphere. These pink, green, yellow, blue, violet, sometimes orange and white dancing lights can only be viewed from various countries including Sweden, Greenland, Denmark, Scotland, Canada, Finland, Norway, Russia and Iceland. While I would love to visit all of them, Iceland is next on my bucket list. After drooling over Kirsten from The Blonde Abroad’s Icelandic adventures, I’m even more enthused to make it to the place of fire and ice! Oh, and I can’t wait to take a dip in the Blue Lagoon.

Bali – I’m looking for an eat, pray, love moment, and Bali is probably the place that I envisioned that happening….or it could be too much reminiscing of Julia Robert’s ‘Eat Pray Love’ blockbuster. I’ve been researching the blissful Indonesian island for years, and while the reviews have been mixed, I live by the mantra, ‘don’t believe what they say, go see’. I prefer to experience something for myself rather than live off of the negative reviews of others. A few must-dos on my Balinese bucket-list are a visit to the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, the Elephant Sanctuary in Ubud as well as a stop at the Uluwatu Temple.

Jamaica – Yes, Jamaica is the only destination that survived off of my previous travel bucket list, and yes it is a shame that my mother and half of my family is Jamaican. I am confident that 2017 is the year that I explore the popular Caribbean country while connecting with my roots. I’m most excited to take a dive off of the cliff near Rick’s Cafe, take a mid-day shower at Dunn’s River fall, trek up to Blue Mountain, sail down the Martha Brae river on a raft and top off my adventure with the most amazingly authentic Jamaican food.

I told you’ll this was an ambitious list! While these are but a sample of my bucket list dreams, I’m not excluding any destination. Is there some hidden gem that I should keep my eye on? Have you visited somewhere that I should definitely plan to go?
Let me know, what should I add to my ever evolving list!

If you make it to Jamaica visit Patra’s (THE Patra) restaurant Chateau 7. She was super sweet, the food was delicious and she still looks the same from her dancehall days. The restaurant has a Facebook page.
