How I Afford To Travel So Much

How do you afford to travel so much?

I can’t remember how many times I’m asked this one question. I’ve honestly lost count.  While some may think that traveling is an expensive venture, and it can be, it is doable, by just about anyone.  You just have to want to travel, and then you have to set the wheels in motion to travel.

So, here goes it. There’s no secret formula, no magic, here’s how I afford travel.

In order for me to explain how I travel, I have to tell you a little more about my life. I’m single [not married], I have no children, and I have little to no bills and I don’t party. No car note, no mortgage; limited debt and great credit.  The only pain in my side is a student loan that I’m well on my way to paying off.

That is how I am able to travel, and travel so freely.

I don’t have major responsibilities, therefore I am able to spend money on traveling. I literally work to travel. That is how I afford it. I save & then I travel.  I’ve always had a love affair of discovering & exploring new places and I realized in order to live out my dreams, I would have to sacrifice. Sacrifice and not buy a Jeep Wrangler. Sacrifice and not buy a house on the beach. [Someday though!]

Life for me right now is about collecting memories.

While this is my way, it is not the only way.  Everyone’s life is different and unique, but if you want to travel, you can!  Just plan it and then start saving. Even if it’s one trip every two years, or three years,  it is attainable.  I know that saving is hard and can be tricky but I’ve used unique ways saving for travel.   I have an upcoming trip and one way that I am saving is by kicking a bad habit.  Every time I slip and curse, I put a dollar into a piggy bank.  If you have any habits, try it.

You would be surprised how much money you save, and in the process kick that habit.

Other ways you can afford travel is by the following Major Travel Tips:

• Planning in advance – The most expensive thing that you will spend money on is a plane ticket. The cheapest tickets can be booked way in advance which is why planning is vital.
• Utilize travel hacking websites – They usually are up to the minute with fare hacks.
• Travel with a friend or a group – It significantly lowers your expenses. Sharing rooms, cars…etc.  Groups usually get tours discounts.
• Use vacation rental services – A la AirBnB or Home Away – Traveling doesn’t need to be glamorous.

And, there it is. How I am able to travel! I don’t have a trust fund, I didn’t win the Powerball. I’m just determined to see the world by any means necessary!
