The way we travel is changing quicker than ever and this weekend Airbnb continued to show us that they are here to stay!
The website, which allows people to rent out their entire homes or rooms to visitors, got its biggest customer yet. While the company is usually associated with the budget traveller, those looking to stretch their dollars, this weekend, international superstar Beyonce opted out of staying in a fancy hotel, to instead stay in an Airbnb.
The ‘Formation’ singer took to social media to post up a snap of her while shouting out the company, “It was a Super weekend Airbnb.”
What does this mean?
While I’m sure Bey received a hefty check for the publicity, I’m interested to know how this will affect the hotel industry moving forward. An artist of Beyonce’s caliber doesn’t exactly need to rent an Airbnb, but she did. A few weeks ago Mariah Carey also tweeted about her $10,000 a night Malibu rental and lets not forget Bey’s bff Gwyneth Paltrow also opts to use the service.
These stars can certainly afford to rent out penthouses in any luxury hotel in the world. My thoughts are that an Airbnb offers an even greater level of privacy for these entertainers and even more space and may in fact work out to be more economical. With more and more fancy rentals becoming available on the website, I’m sure many more entertainers will flock to the popular site.
Check out Bey’s swaggy and not so regular 10k a night rental in Los Altos Hills.
