If you’ve never heard about the island of Eleuthera, located in the Central Bahamas, pull up a chair. Eleuthera, deriving from the Greek work ‘eleutheros” meaning free, is considered to be the birthplace of The Bahamas and was given its unique name by the second settlers on the island, “The Eleutheran Adventurers”, a group of Puritan Pilgrims seeking freedom of religion.
The charming island is always a good idea, be it summer, fall, spring or winter. The island is known for its photographic white and pink sand beaches, pineapple fields, colonial charm, casual sophistication and its warm and hospitable people. You can do it all, or you can do nothing, but one thing is certain, you’ll never want to leave.
My last stop on the island made me fall in love. From walking through pineapple fields to eating freshly baked pineapple tart to chatting with Lady D at Hope Farms to witnessing the natural wonder that is The Glass Window Bridge, I realized why celebrities like Tyler Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Oprah and so many flock to the island.
