Today, I’m closing out the series with my final blog, “Keys To Getting The Most Out Of Your Vacation”, in this blog I will highlight some of the biggest secrets I’ve learned over my years of travelling because if you’re traveling and you’re not enjoying it, you’re probably doing something wrong!
Keys To Getting The Most Out Of Your Vacation
- Be Present: You’re on vacation, act like it. This is not the time to glue yourself to a computer or a cell phone to answer emails or check in at the office. Enjoy the much needed time off and soak up your surroundings, immerse yourself in the culture and live in the moment. Leave the stress behind.
- Go With The Flow: I recently had to adapt to this when my flight was cancelled and my entire vacation was thrown upside down. When travelling, you have to remember that nothing will always go as planned. There will be delays, missed connections even lost luggage, but you just have to learn to go with the flow and make changes on the fly. You probably will look back at these moments and laugh it off like I have.
- Be Open: Always be open to change and trying new things and experiences. The reason you travelled to a foreign city or country is because it piqued your interest in some way. Be a local, do what the locals do, if only for a few days.
- Disconnect: I have this bad habit; I’m always glued to my phone. As a blogger, I feel the need to document everything, at all times. It’s a double-edged sword because I miss a lot of small details. I am slowly learning how to disconnect from technology and my job to truly enjoy my travels. I try to balance it out these days. If you don’t have a need to be on your phone, leave it home or turn it off.
- Document: Although I said to disconnect, this doesn’t mean to totally shut off and not document your trip. Take a point and shoot camera and document those perfect and memorable moments so you can look back and live your experience again.
- Share Your Experience: When I’m done with my travels, I get to relive them by sharing them on my blog or in casual conversations with family or friends. When I sit back and talk to others about my experiences it’s as if I’m transported to that magical moment yet again. People want to hear how you pulled it off, so don’t keep it a secret! You never know who you’ll be able to inspire.
If you made it through all four blogs in the ‘How To Plan Your Vacation’ travel series, I’ve got a hug for you! *virtual hugs*, you’re the best and I appreciate you! I hope all of the articles brought some value and strategies that you are able to use as you plan and travel the world.
