Wow, we are not only rolling into a new year but a new decade! Pinch me, where has the time gone? This decade was one helluva ride. I’ve lost so much but gained what feels like another lifetime. I am older and wiser and I’m ready to step into 2020 with renewed clarity and purpose.
So, what are my 2020 goals? What do I want my life moving forward to look like?
In this new decade, I intend to set goals, but even more so, I intend to accomplish those goals. A lot of times we say, we write but we never do. A goal is just that, a goal. It takes time, work, and persistence to achieve targets. Don’t just set goals, actively work them and crush them.
One thing this last decade has shown me is that I tend to shrink in the face of a challenge. Why? Fear? If I continue to allow fear to cripple me, I will never accomplish the lofty goals I have set for myself. While it is not easy, you can overcome fear. You have to know that you are capable of anything, you just have to take that first step. I walked with lions this year, there is nothing I should be afraid of.
Lastly, the environment, the most important part of achieving your goals is having the right team around you. Be it family, friends or associates, you must align yourself with people who believe in you and will hold you accountable. One of the hardest things for me this year was being held accountable. It made me sick to think that I wasn’t working hard enough to achieve my goals, but the mirror that was held up by my accountability partner made me all the way embarrassed. If your tribe isn’t going to push you, hold you up or battle with you, find yourself a new one.
There are a few more days left in 2019, now is the time to audit, assess and reassess your life, your goals, and your environment. 2020 is waiting, let’s not disappoint.
What are your goals for next year? I would love to know! Drop me a line in the comments.
