Hey, hey, hey! So today I thought to try something a little different, I wanted to give you the opportunity to get to know me a little better. I understand that while I am a somewhat “public” figure, I am a very private individual which is why I think sharing 25 Things You Don’t Know About myself is pretty cool!
-
- I have always wanted to be a writer. As a little girl I always dreamt of being an author and writing a few fiction novels. I still hope to write a book someday!
- I am a certified island gyal! I was born in The Bahamas to a Bahamian father and a Jamaican mother. I’ve lived in The Bahamas all of my life and travelled to Jamaica last year for the first time! I can’t wait to return and explore more of the beautiful country.
- I am an introverted extrovert, if that makes sense. I love meeting new people, but at times, I just want to run in the other direction. It’s something I’m working on.
- I don’t drink coffee. I’m British in my head. I love tea! Mint tea, ginger tea, you name it.
- I am a Leo! (In case you couldn’t tell!)
- I grew up with my aunt Vernie, who was a master baker! So I have an appreciation for yummy cakes. My friends think I’m a granny because my favourite cake is a yellow cake!
- I think I inherited a baking thumb. I make the best cheesecakes and during Christmas time, I bake a mean fruit cake, further proof that I’m an old soul.
- I am a card-carrying member of the Bey Hive. I love Beyonce, because she is the epitome of excellence and is a legend.
- I began blogging in 2011, my first blog was called “Sort Of A Major Deal”, then it slowly morphed into SHESOMAJOR.
- Although I have travelled extensively around the world, my favourite place to travel will always be New York City! There’s no city in the world quite like it!
- I have a twin brother….wellll not exactly, but I swear to you, my mother had the same child twice. My brother has my entire face. Just think Sherice, without a low cut. It’s actually quite scary.
- My favourite flowers are peonies, ranunculus and sunflowers. I would like to have a little garden someday, but I don’t think I can keep anything alive.
- I’m a former pageant girl. My first pageant was at the age of 9/10. I am also a former Ms. Hawaaian Tropic.
- If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would probably be pasta. Yummy!
- My favourite t.v. show is Grey’s Anatomy, I haven’t missed an episode since 2005.
- My favourite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. I am a firm believer in putting your dreams into the atmosphere.
- I majored in Spanish & Communications and quickly dropped the Spanish after my first semester. I graduated with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communications.
- My nickname in high school was ‘Pocahontas’.
- I am obsessed with being on time! Being late is so disrespectful. Sadly, my life is filled with disrespectful people as my friends are never on time for anything! 🙁
- I live near the beach but I don’t go as much as people think I should. I guess it’s a case of not appreciating what you have. I drive past the beach every single day and work out on the beach but I don’t go in.
- I put myself through college. Many people come up with excuses as to why they can’t achieve something and I use myself as an example to show people anything is possible with hard work! I worked part-time and went to school part-time.
- I love saving money. One of the first things my aunt taught me and I will never forget is the importance of saving. No matter how small the amount, you should try to save a consistent amount every month. Rainy days always come around.
- I wanted to become an actress. I went to acting classes with a few former actors and actresses and I even went so far as to sign up and pay for acting classes in New York City. I saved so much money to attend classes at this fancy school in the city only to quit after one class because it was super challenging. Looking back on that experience, I resent quitting because I’m pretty sure I would’ve turned out to be a phenomenal actress.
- I love the golden oldies, cues up Lionel Richie, Otis Redding, Diana Ross, anything old…they don’t make music like they used to! (There’s the old part of me talking again!)
- This may not be a secret, but I am frugal! I hate spending money, BUT, I love nice things. How does that even work? I may purchase one BIG item a year, and throughout the year it’s just 20$ shirts and catching as many sales and deals as possible. I try to shop smart, and I also try to buy more quality and long-lasting pieces. My motto is quality over quantity.
