If I had a time machine, I would go back in time to my 16-year-old self and say, ‘girlllllllllllll, you gotta lot to learn.’ When we’re young, we think we know it all, but the truth is, we really don’t. Life is about constant growth, learning and relearning and Lord knows, I still have a lot to learn. But guess what, that’s the most important part, knowing that you don’t know it all!
There are so many things that I’ve learned over this short time on earth, some things I wished I learned a little earlier on, but nonetheless I am still happy to have caught up! As I celebrate and cheers 33 laps around the sun, I’m also here to share a few…well more like 33 Things I Wish I Learned Earlier In Life!
- Don’t sweat the small stuff.
- Be slow to anger.
- Say you’re sorry and mean it.
- It’s better to say sorry than to ask for permission.
- Keep your circles small.
- Trust is earned.
- Loyalty is like a mirror, once shattered, it’s virtually unfixable.
- Save for a rainy day.
- Learn when to say nothing.
- Do more of what makes you happy.
- Know when to walk away from situations that no longer help you to grow.
- Saying no is healthy and empowering.
- Also, never take no for an answer.
- You don’t know everything.
- Be open to new things.
- The sun always rises.
- Sometimes it really is just your fault.
- Be accountable.
- If you burn a bridge, make sure you can swim.
- Tell some, keep some.
- Trust the process.
- Comparision is the thief of joy. (P.S. Don’t compare real life to internet life!)
- It’s never too late to start over.
- There is no ceiling too high. Dream big.
- Being kind is inexpensive.
- Be your own hypeman!
- Invest in yourself!
- No one owes you anything in life.
- Closed mouths don’t get fed. If you want something, say something.
- Faith is free!
- God is an on time God!
- Don’t tell people your dreams, show them.
- Enjoy life!
