The Insecure we have all grown to love has officially gotten its groove back! Episode 5, “High-Like”, was filled with the comedic flair and “ratchetedry” that we all love….or am I just speaking for myself. *Looks around* The gang’s all present Issa, Kelli, Tiffany and Molly for the last fling before Tiffany pops out her baby and make it one hell of a weekend in Palm Springs for Coachella. I don’t know why they thought this would’ve been an appropriate place for a pregnant woman to be but, let’s just let that one go.
Before the gang heads to Coachella, Molly volunteer’s for a last-minute work obligation that she knew she shouldn’t have taken. The need to constantly prove herself at work every single episode can’t be healthy, but what’s so sad is this is the reality of women today. Overqualified and overlooked. But, this is about Palm Spring’s so let’s take it there!
This episode was like a flashback to my summer in Amsterdam, one hell of a time, a story I will never forget! While in Palm Springs, Issa hooks up with Lyft Bae (Nathan) and a few friends who literally are the party starters! Everything from edibles to weed brownies and molly are passed around, which escalate everything! We’ve got Molly spilling her soul to strangers, Kelli getting into fights and we’ve got Issa copulating and joining the mile high club and to top it off, they missed Queen Bey. I haven’t laughed this hard in SO long!
This episode was as solid as they come, classic Issa and gang, but there were a few things that stood out to me.
Tiffany’s fear of her friendships changing. I questioned why would Tiffany even agree to go to Coachella. It’s no place for a woman bout to drop a kid, but we get our answer. She feels left out. Her and Issa’s conversation made me feel bad for her. We will see the dynamics change, but that’s life.
Issa broke up with Lawrence, moved in with Daniel, then got together with Lyft bae, where is the time to heal and be alone? She’s already acting crazy having unprotected sex with Nathan and they’re not even together. THEN the bombshell at the end of the episode? Whew. Her life is about to get real wild.
LAWRENCE IS BACK! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! LAWRENCE IS BACK! While at the grocery store, Issa casually runs into Lawrence, and we know that look from anywhere. She want that old thing back! Why would they play with our emotions like this? Why would they LIE! It’s clear Lawrence will be back for the remainder of the season, question is, will they get back together? What will happen with Nathan. Does he want Issa back? Whew, I am here for it!
