Hello 2019, it’s nice to finally meet you!
Last year was amazing but this year, I intend to be more intentional with my goals and my time. I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself this year and setting goals that scare the hell out of me but also earmarking goals that ensure I live a more positive and enriching life.
Here are a few of my 2019 goals.
- Collaborate More: A major goal of mine this New Year is to collaborate with more women. I have a small group of women whom I love and lean on for advice and to bounce ideas off of, but this year I would like to step out of that circle and create with new people. The competition will always exist, but we have to remind ourselves that there’s so much that can be accomplished when we work together.
- Compare Less: We’ve heard it all before, comparison is the thief of all joy and it’s so true. Instead of comparing, I intend to celebrate my gifts, my talents and my blessings and continue to put in the work to get to where I would like to be. Many times we compare our lives to those but do not know their stories and their struggles. I found myself comparing and depressing myself on social media this year and I found a fix, I unfollowed every and anyone who made me question my success. Protect your space.
- Say Yes More: I’ve missed so many awesome opportunities because of fear. No longer will I allow this to hinder my progress and this year will be a year I say, YES. Yes to sharing my story, yes to helping others, yes to doing, yes to teaching, yes to the scary. Shonda Rhimes wrote a book called, Year of Yes, which I love and highly recommend.
- Love More: Sometimes we get so distracted in our daily lives that we forget there are people around us that need love and time. Life is short and I intend to spend more of my time loving and spending precious moments with those who love me, my family and my friends. Make time for the people who will always be there for you, who will always have your back. Let the goal this year be to spend more time with your friends and family than you do scrolling on social media.
While I do have more specific goals, these four I’m really excited for. It won’t be easy, but what in life is, right? Let’s make this year a great one! #LetsGetIt
