Do you have a problem with shopping? Because I do, but I’ve found a way to make money while I shop! Perfect right? “Yea right Sherice”. I can show you my receipts, I’m currently waiting on my ‘BIG FAT CHECK’ via PayPal from Rakuten (formerly Ebates). I can hear you, “from doing what?”, if you guessed shopping, you’re right! So, what is Rakuten? Rakuten is only one of the greatest websites I found a bit too late! But, I’m going to ensure that you’re not leaving any money on the table while you shop.
What is Rakuten?
In it’s simplest form, Rakuten is an online cashback website that pays you to shop. Essentially, they are high-level affiliates who are paid commissions when members shop on certain retailers’ websites and then they split their commissions with us! You pay absolutely nothing, you simply shop and save! In addition to getting cashback from Rakuten, you can find tons of coupons and daily shopping deals on their website.
I won’t sit here and lie to you and say that I’ve been using Rakuten for years, because I haven’t. It’s been one year, but I’ve been able to make good money and I didn’t want to keep this to myself. So, what took me so long? I can be a pessimist. I had seen a few ads, heard some stuff from my friends but I still thought it was a little scammy. Free money? No one gives you free money. So I ignored it, to my detriment. When I asked my friend how much money she earned her response blew me away! “Couple hundreds!” Um, say what!
Nothing moves me to action more than a good deal and the opportunity to earn money as passively as I can. Rakuten!
Get Started
Signing up for Rakuten is a cakewalk and did I mention free. There are no hidden charges or fees. Simply visit their website, Rakuten.com, you can use my link as a “helllll yass” for putting you on and sign up with your email address. You can find the store you want, on Ebates, click the link and start shopping and earning! So, how do you know how much you’re making? Easy. Each store provides you with a percentage, which alerts you as to how cash you’ll be receiving if you shop via Rakuten. Percentages range from store to store so J.Crew might be offering 6%, Sephora 4% or Nike 3%, and if you’re lucky you’ll catch double cashback which means even greater sales, I’ve seen as much as 10% cashback.
Are There Any Good Stores?
Hell yeah! Rakuten offers cashback and coupons for over 2,500 stores over so you’ll be hardpressed to find a store that isn’t here! Just a few stores that you can earn money while shopping: J.Crew, Sephora, Nike, Express, Forever 21, Target, Expedia, Hilton, Walmart, Old Navy, Carters, Gap, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Amazon, ASOS…you get my drift? If you’re already spending money on these online retailers, why not get some of it back? One of my favourite ways to utilize Rakuten is on travel & vacation. You can get cash back on hotels, flights, or cruises. For a full list of stores, visit here.
When Do I Get Paid?
Payment is easy, Rakuten pays out Cash Back every quarter via cheque or Paypal. I use Paypal because it’s super convenient. You can also see a running balance of all of your cash and the corresponding stores and shopping dates so there’s never a doubt what you’re getting back.
How To Never Miss Out On Cash Back
When I first started using Rakuten I left a ton of money on the table, especially during the holiday season because I left one thing out, I didn’t add the Cash Back button to my browser! As soon as you sign up, ensure that you add the Rakuten Cash Back button to your browser. By doing this you don’t necessarily have to visit Rakuten, simply find out percentages and available coupons of stores from your browser, If you install the button, coupons are automatically added at checkout so you’ll always get the best deals. What is there not to LOVE?
Am I missing anything?? Oh, yea, if you’re an on the go shopper, you can download the Rakuten App for iPhone, Android and iPad and enjoy app-exclusive offers and extra Cash Back.
OH, one more thing, you can also earn In-Store Cash Back!
Here’s how:
“Add one or more eligible American Express, Mastercard or visa credit cards to your Rakuten profile and link available In-Store Cash Back offers to your card(s). When you shop at participating local stores and pay with your eligible linked card, you will automatically earn Cash Back on qualifying purchases. Cash Back will typically be added to your Ebates account within seven days of your purchase.
So, that’s cashback online AND in-store! Remember, a store may offer online cashback but not in-store, it’s always good to double-check before you shop.
I love Rakuten, and I don’t recommend things that I haven’t personally used and love! So, are you ready to get your cashback on?
If you’re like me and constantly looking for ways to save, earn money and take advantage of every deal, Ebates is one of the best ways to do so, and remember its free! I mean, you’re already spending a ton on these eligible websites, so why not get your cashback!
