This Mother’s Day will be challenging and different because of our current predicaments, but there’s no reason we can’t still show our love and eternal gratitude to our personal superhero, mom. A lot of us are still under quarantine, lockdowns, and curfews so a traditional Mother’s Day lunch/dinner or celebration seems highly unlikely.
We compiled a few thoughtful & social distancing approved ideas that will put a smile on mom’s face.
- Flowers: Give mom the gift of a fresh bunch of florals to brighten up her space! If you’re used to giving mom her flowers, don’t let a little thing like quarantine stop you. Many floral companies are still operating and need your business more so now than ever before! Not only will mom love it, but you’ll be keeping a small business afloat! Two of our top picks that we’ve recently discovered are Farmgirl Flowers! and East Olivia(Not an ad!)
- Zoom Brunch: Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate mom, and that usually happens through family brunch or dinner. There’s no reason for the tradition to stop now. Thanks to modern technology, we can all stay connected by the click of a button. Use Zoom or any other video-based platform to host the annual Mother’s Day brunch. Everyone can cook something, bring their drinks, and have a good time.
- Scrapbook: Everyone has extra time on their hands these days and it would be the perfect time to create a family scrapbook! We would usually recommend homemade cards but we’re sure mom’s a little over the cards. Your family scrapbook could include photos of the family, letters to mom, just about anything you want. If you have a big family, you could all create mini scrapbooks to form one big book. Think of each family as a chapter. Ship or drop it off to mom’s front door!
- Gift Cards: Allow mom to choose her own gift! Maybe mom needs some new pots, pans, or mixers for baking or a comfy set of pajamas. Whatever mom wants, she can have. Gift her a gift card to use at any store or maybe her favorite small business.
As unconventional as this Mother’s Day might be, let’s continue the tradition of honoring moms everywhere for their unconditional love and sacrifice. How are you spending this Mother’s Day? What are you getting mom?
