While recently listening to an interview my boyfriend was conducting, he said something so simple, yet mindblowing; life is about seasons. With everything in life, there is a season, a time and place under the heaven for everything. As humans, we feel we have total control over life and our situations at all times, but there comes a time where we’re confronted with the harsh reality that we don’t.
We don’t, because life is everchanging, just like life’s seasons. Sure, I knew this, I had heard this many times before, but I never truly cared to respect this fact. Since quitting my job a few months ago, I had a plan to steam roll over my goals. I had this plan for all of the things I wanted to accomplish, life would be great! Life humbled me and taught me that things take time, sometimes a painful and excruciating amount of time.
In order to truly win at this thing called life, you have to be fully aware of your season and appreciate that. There are seasons of learning, unlearning, developing, planting and harvesting. There will be seasons where there will be an abundance of fruit produced by the seeds you plant, and sometimes storms will wreck your harvest. The importance is knowing which season you are in, and knowing that no one season will last forever.
Life may look pretty barren for you right now because, what was meant to be a season of planting, you confused it for a season of reaping. You can’t reap what you don’t sow, therefore, water, nurture, fertilize THIS season. While it’s wise to look ahead, it’s also wise to be present. Know, accept and embrace and work your season.
Remember, what you do in THIS season will ultimately prepare you for the next.
